Yet another discovery I made while browsing the IGF entries was the identity of Reflexive Entertainment's next XBLA game. Reflexive was responsible for the game Ricochet Lost Worlds on the original Xbox version of XBLA and also for Wik: Fable of Souls (a personal favorite). As a result of their high standing in my esteem, I was intrigued when I saw their name amongst the IGF entries. And thus, I set out to do some internet Matlocking, and I struck gold.
Long story short: Axiom: Overdrive will be Reflexive Entertainment's next XBLA title, and it's coming in "Winter 2007". Want to know how I cracked the code? Want to know more about Axiom: Overdrive? Hit the Jump.

Reflexive Entertainment appeared not once, not twice, but three times in the IGF entries list. The three games entered by Reflexive are Axiom: Overdrive, Ricochet Infinity, and Tree of Life. Now, two of the three are listed on Reflexive's "Game-ology" as PC releases; Ricochet Infinity released in July and Tree of Life will arrive this "Winter". That list also happened to include an entry for an "Unreleased XBLA Title" slated for "Winter 2007" (ed. note: this entry has since been removed and I forgot the "screenshot or it didn't happen" rule. Oops.).
Well, after I put 3 and 2 together I realized that Axiom: Overdrive was the odd one out. Upon investigating further, I finally hit the jackpot when I came full circle back to IGF.com. I clicked on the screenshot for Axiom: Overdrive and upon close examination of the screenshot I saw what you see on the right here. Clear indication that this game was XBLA bound. (Click for the full screen.) Upon contacting Reflexive my suspicions were confirmed.
And thus, Axiom: Overdrive has been uncovered and we've got one more game to anticipate. But, what is Axiom: Overdrive? Well all we know so far is from the description at IGF:
Deep within a ravaged asteroid mine there is work to be done. Equipped with an OTF, players grapple with unique physics-based game-play as they explore the mine's dark corridors and discover...
...they are not alone!
The game is being developed by the same team that brought us Wik and has apparently been in development for some time. My hope is that the game is as quirky and innovative as Wik but attracts a much wider audience (because I want more cool, quirky games!).
Learn more about the game as Reflexive releases info through the Axiom: Overdrive website. (Note: It's just a splash screen now, but my contact at Reflexive has told me that their will be updates to the site soon.)

I hope this will be a good one that attracts lots of people. And with many great advantages. Would like to have a new cool game to play.
