your top 5 XBLA games? and the top 5 on metacritic.

Name your top 5 favorite XBLA games! (note, I have the 5 games on the xbla unplugged disc i haven't played yet) Well, here's mine:

1. UNO

2. Aegis Wing

3. Frogger

4. Assault heroes

5. Fable 2 pub games

Now, Here's metacritics Top 5 XBLA games:

#1 Braid 93/100

#2 Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 90/100

#3 Portal: Still Alive 89/100

#4 Rez HD 89/100

#5 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night 89/100

What are your opinions on the above? (My choices, and the top 5 on metacritic)

Well, I think Rez HD isn't really 85+ worthy... Maybe a 75-80, but not that high. Am I not getting something?

Not necessarily in order, my

Not necessarily in order, my favorites are:

1. Lumines - worth of every nickel and dime, imo. ;)

2. Ikaruga - one of the best games of all time. Gradius V next, please.

3. Omega Five - short and easy, but at least it wasn't just another port. Pretty graphics too. :)

4. Puzzle Quest - if only because of the sheer amount of time this game sucked out of my life.

5. N+

My only gripe with the metacritic rankings is that I think that Braid is grossly overrated. It certainly isn't worth $15, for starters, and for all the praise it gets for being innovative and artistic... it simply isn't a fun game. And, yes, I solved all the worlds on my own, and read all of the text, but it really seemed way too pretentious with too little actually delivered. Not a terrible game, but certainly not a 93.

I'd have to say my top 5

I'd have to say my top 5 are:

  • Geometry Wars 2
  • N+
  • Tee It Up
  • Puzzle Quest
  • Heavy Weapon

and a nod to Catan and Pac-Man C.E. as well. I also really enjoyed Rez HD, but played it for like 2 weeks every night for like 2-3 hours at a time, and hit the wall with that one. Probably need to finish it sometime...

My pick of the XBLA games

My pick of the XBLA games would be:

Gripshift - New Zealand made and the best of the XBLA racing / driving games. Both single player and multiplayer are fun. The mix of challenges in the game are well done and is well suited to pick up and play.
Banjo-Kazooie - I never had a Nintendo machine and have been pleasantly surprised at the quality and depth of this game. Good platformer.
Braid - pick of the puzzle genre. Challenging and well done. It's very tempting to jump online and check you tube for the solutions but much more rewarding to figure it out yourself - eventually.
Geometry Wars 2 - more playable than one with five different modes of play. Buy this first and if can can master this then take on Geometry Wars one.
Prince Of Persia - The standard for remakes of old games. The levels are the same as the original game but beautifully redone with modern graphics.
Uno - The pick of the card and board games with lots of people still playing on-line.

hard to say.

I should really only vote for the ones I've played, and if I went by playing time (courtesy of 360voice) as an indication of what I like the most, it'd be:

1 - CATAN (expansions someday... please... )
2 - PinballFX - great time waster
3 - Ticket to Ride - leisurely, though I don't seem to win as much as I'd like
4 - Heavy Weapon - what? I played that 4th most?
5 - Worms - heh. funny voices that aren't inside my head.

Geowars never appealed to me. Poker Smash I've enjoyed, but the chains elude me. Mad Tracks was decent, but the 'fast food' seems impossible. Castle Crashers might work it's way up the list now that it's patched....

My top 5 are 1. Rez HD 2.

My top 5 are

2. Puzzle Quest (Addictive)

3. Braid (Innovation)

4. Castle Crashers (So much fun, online hurt it though)

5. Arkadian Warriors (Still hoping for DLC or a Sequel)

Here is my top 5 (even if at

Here is my top 5 (even if at least 15 should be listed):

* Mad Tracks: I still play it and we're porting it on Wii now
* Cloning Clyde: god I had fun with this game!! Ninja Bee FTW!
* Age of booty: don't know why I got stuck on this, I guess it's neatly done.
* E4: aaaaahhhhh pure adrenaline when you hit those 1.500 chain reactions
* Puzzle Quest: it's simply bitchin'.

Wait until we release our next game!!
Have a marvelous day,

DenisDenis.

Wooho... Breaking news? First time I hear about it anyway :)

My top five in no specific order, and I included a Community Game as well:

*Space Giraffe: Awesome game, haven't played it in a while though, due to my save file being corrupted for unknown reason.

*CarnyVale: Showtime (Community Game): Fantastic presentation. Reminded me somewhat of Christmas Nights, probably due to the awesome intro.

*And we'll fast forward: Lumines Live, Hexic HD and Eats.

Wow, never thought that my top five would only feature puzzle games. Wicked.
