Ikaruga CONFIRMED for Xbox Live Arcade

No, this is not a joke. No, you didn't read this wrong. Yes, you may want to remember to breathe. [url=http://computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=158009]Computer And Video Games[/url] have revealed the greatest Partner Net discovery ever. Ikaturga is coming to Xbox Live Arcade. For those of you who don't "live" in Japan and use the Arcades or a Dreamcast or own a Gamecube, Ikaruga is a top-down shooter developed by [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasure_Co._Ltd]Treasure[/url] (Gunstar Series, Radiant Silvergun, Wario World). The game itself is interesting due to the fact that the player must switch off between two different types of shot/defense to stay alive, which can best be described by watching the video below this news post. The game ironically crashed before CVG could try it out, but had they booted it up they would have been more than likely given both a single-player and multiplayer mode, leaderboards, and the whole ten yards. UPDATE: DaKing240 has [url=http://daking240.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!4E7F2CA27C6366BE!316.entry]given word[/url] that other games have joined Ikaruga on Partner Net today including Centipede, Milipede, Jetpac, Pinball FX and Alien Hominid. From this news it looks like the Rare classic Jetpac may be popping onto the arcade possibly as soon as this summer.

I just noticed this Eurogamer has a list of some of the achievements.

That's awesome! I love this game! I actually found it for GameCube not too long ago, for $20. I couldn't spend the crazy amount on eBay.

i "acquired" the dreamcast
i "acquired" the dreamcast version. being japan only is something that i am worried about since on partner net i guess the title was in japanese, but can a game this big not make it the us? hopefully i don't eat those words later

Odds are this is the arcade (or maybe Dreamcast) version. Isn't the Gamecube version the only one that was translated to English?

If they leave it in Japanese, this would be the perfect time to introduce that "imports" section of XBLA idea that they were talking about last year.

They can't release this in Japan only. They just can't!

I never played this game before. Looks awesome though!!! I will definitely pick this up when it comes out.

As a former Dreamcast Owner,

As a former Dreamcast Owner, and a current Gamecube owner, I can say that I have never played Ikaruga.

And, actually, I'm probably going to give away my Gamecube after I'm done with Twilight Princess.

Heh... Really I love my gamecube, but I haven't touched it much since I got the 360, and after I'm done with Zelda, there's nothing new coming down the pipeline.

However, I have already chosen the new home for the Gamecube, so I can't send it your way, Tomacco. Sorry.
