Near the end is this tease:

"Also, we want to dangle a metaphorical carrot in front of your face by saying that we have some exciting news surround Wing Commander Arena in the weeks to come. It's a small surprise, but a surprise that is exciting nonetheless. Anyway, that's all we are saying, so stay tuned."

If it's "in the coming weeks" I doubt this game will arrive next week.

Xbox 360 Fanboy is probably referring to an EA competition they've been invited to, with their 'coming weeks' comment. They (and I) can't talk about it yet, but I know exactly what they're talking about.

WCA is slated for release on the 25th, barring any last minute technical problems.

Xbox 360 Fanboy will post about this contest no later than Tuesday of next week (the 24th). They are waiting on paperwork to clear, as am I.

Tell ya what... come by my site and say Hello, once this proves to be right. :)

Plus wasn't WCA supposed to be a June release? They probably failed cert and so had to redo it which they've stated takes at a minimum 2 weeks... next week lines up really well with that then.

I don't think that Arena failed certification. My understanding is that (by contract) Microsoft will promise a developer a four week window for a game once it has been approved. In Arena's case this meant 6/27, 7/11, 7/18 or 7/25 (7/4 was exempt). The big problem in the past few week has been Marathon. MS threw a lot of resources at getting Marathon out for E3... which didn't happen, the game just couldn't be made ready in time (and, in fact, still isn't). So instead of a big surprise game on 7/11 on the order of DooM from last year we got two simple Sega games that were already in the queue. By my (admittably limited) understanding, 7/25 is Arena's last shot - otherwise EA gets some money or some higher percent of profits or something from Microsoft... which I'm sure they would want to avoid.

Anyhow, it looks pretty certain that we're getting Arena this week... although I would like to see a press release or an Xbox.com website update.
