Title Update

Assault Heroes and Doom see price cut this week

According to the Gamerscoreblog, Xbox Live Arcade this week won't see any new release (*sad panda face*), instead we'll be treated to 2 new titles being added to the Xbox Live Arcade Hits program, namely Assault Heroes and Doom.

  • “Assault Heroes” (Sierra Online). Become the only surviving member of an elite special forces unit searching for a secret underground lab. Play the mission alone or fight side-by-side with a friend in the two-player cooperative mode. The winner of IGN’s Xbox LIVE Arcade game of the year for 2006.
  • “DOOM” (id Software). Originally released in 1993, “DOOM” introduced millions to the white-knuckle excitement of the first-person shooter (FPS). Relive the classic demon-blasting action with up to four players over Xbox LIVE*, complete with 5.1 surround sound and smoother graphics.

Both of these titles will be available from now on for 400 Microsoft Points.

Are you picking any of these or would you rather have a new title this week?

Title Update: Space Giraffe Gets A Redo

Gamerscoreblog has the details on an upcoming title update for Space Giraffe. It seems the leaderboards have become awash with people using nefarious means (read: exploits) to climb to the top. In response, Minter and crew have pushed an update out (arriving to us later this week) that will fix the following issues:

  • Players will no longer be able to indefinitely hold the power zone at its maximum on a given level.
  • Players will no longer be able to indefinitely ‘juggle’ enemies.

As a result of the update, the leaderboards will be reset and all will be well in the land of llamas. I assume that this update is the one we heard about last month.

Updates Ho!: Texas Hold 'em And Hexic 2 Get Tweaked

Sick of people using exploits to gain the advantage in Texas Hold 'em while you do everything legit? Tired of saved games being filled with weirdness in Hexic 2? Well, let your mind be as ease. We've got title updates incoming for both games this week.

Full details after the break.

Less Puking?: Marathon: Durandal Gets Updated

We've just received word from Brian Akaka of Freeverse that Marathon: Durandal has just received the update treatment.

Here's the big stuff in the update. First, the addition of Survival mode to the Demo. You will now get 6 minutes to romp around killing stuff and trying to avoid being killed to "get a taste" of full mode. (I certainly cannot complain about a richer demo, you?)

Secondly, and most importantly, Freeverse has added a wider field of view (as an option) for those of you that have been getting queasy whilst blowing the crap out of aliens.

So, less puking, more surviving. Sounds good. Anyone going back for seconds to whet their appetite for that other Bungie created game series?

For those people that own the game there are actually a couple solid small adjustments in the update too. Check 'em out in the full Press Release after the break.

Minter Talks Patch (And Spirit-Crushing)

Over on his stinkygoat blog, Mr. Minter has dropped a hint of an upcoming patch for his latest opus Space Giraffe. And by hint, I mean this statement:

We are going to release a small patch to fix a couple of minor issues that have come to our attention since launch.

Minter also notes that the (in his eyes) needlessly drawn out and bureaucratic process of releasing said fix contains "this massive, spirit-crushing inertia...that causes the pain". This derives from the sad fact that 5 minutes of code fixes necessitates a two week testing period prior to the patch's release.

It seems that being the proud papa of the sometimes beloved and often misunderstood Space Giraffe has taken its toll on Minter. The extended certification process for the game (and now for the patch) has worn him down. Here's hoping he is able to take the advice of his commenters and find someplace warm where people serve fruity drinks topped with umbrellas to get a little rest and time away from the screen.

Title Update: Band of Bugs

Those that have been playing Band of Bugs since this weekend already know this, but a title update went out this past Friday, July 20th.

The game was plagued by a couple nasty bugs when it was released that likely brought down a lot of review scores. Luckily for all, NinjaBee has now pushed out a update, around a month later. So, if you've been holding off on the game because you feared the bugs (the ones that did not belong in the game, that is) then have no fear. Go get it! And hey, you can even get some free DLC once you have gotten it.

After the break is the full list of fixes.

Pit Stop for Mad Tracks

In case you missed our forum topic on the subject, Mad Tracks has successfully made a pit stop, got a full tank, and changed all four tires in 4.372 seconds. And by pit stop I mean got patched. And by 4.372 seconds I mean approximately two weeks.

TeamXbox even goes as far as saying "The update will automatically install at title launch and will have no side effect." Yeah, Microsoft has said that before. Let's hope that comment doesn't foreshadow the announcer's curse like with the console-bricking dash updates of the past.

But who cares about all that. Just go enjoy some racing with your newly un-trial-ified Mad Tracks.

Mad Track glitch to be patched, soon?

Many people have been experiencing a frustrating upgrade glitch in Mad Tracks. Users have been reporting that after downloading the trial version of Mad Tracks and then subsequently paying to upgrade to the full version they have still been stuck with the trial version.

Luckily, Load Inc put their crack team on it and they have submitted a patch to Microsoft for approval. To all those affected, may the relief come swiftly.
