Beautiful Katamari
I sent this to the tips line, and gave some time for the admins to post it, but this is huge news for XBLA.
Lately it came to light that the new Katamari Damacy game would be exclusive to the 360. Now, according to Gamespot....
Beautiful Katamari will be an XBLA release, in Ocotber!!!
I borrowed a PS2 for the sole purpose of playing through the original Katamari, so I'm geeking out about this quite a bit. Also, this opens the door for great PS2 games, or by extension, great Xbox 1 games, to come out on the XBLA.
It signals a dramatic shift in XBLA potential.
I remember when Ross was saying No way that katamari was coming to arcade when I posted that early rumor. I think he was just trying to set up a curve ball etc. I guess if Namco is bringing all sorts of exclusives to the 360 they probably wanted to wait until the last moment so Sony could not try to put in a crazy offer to change their minds. That is the only thing that I can see as to why he said it would not happen when I posted the rumor ages ago. Or he just was unaware of it. I am glad to see it is in some form coming true.
This would have been another killer app for arcade. Stuff like this does not really need to fill a dvd like an oblivion etc. Especially with PSN getting things like loco roco in the future. I will get the game no matter what it comes for though. Because it is beautiful.
