Indie or Retro?
While XBLA gives us both Indie greats (i.e. Geo Wars & Cloning Clyde) and Retro Classics (i.e. SFII & Pac-Man), which do you prefer?
Personally I find myself going for the Indie games myself as I find they tend to be more fun to play.
I'll admit it is cool to see some of the retro games up there, but having bought a bunch of them, the memory doesn't half flatter some of those titles. Indie games is what I'm enjoying (Mutant Storm Reloaded, Geo Wars, Marble Blast Ultra) and looking forward to (Texas Poker Hold'em, Mad Tracks, Mutant Storm Empires etc...).
I'd say indie as currently implemented, but I think they could do a much better job with the retro games than they have been.
It shouldn't be just about staying true to the arcade... It should have the core arcade gameplay, even look like the arcade, but add more multiplayer features.
How about a 20-player frogger match where you see ghost-froggers of all the other players, in a race for the highest score, a dynamically updating place-meter on the left, like in a racing game (You're currently #4 out of 16 players)? There might be some problems implementing this, but it would certainly be a lot more fun than frogger currently is.
Developers of retro conversions need to start thinking "out-of-the-box" to make these games feel like they are only possible on the XBLA.

That'd be pretty sweet, but the only thing I'd be worried about is a bad case of sequal-itis. The 20 player frogger does well, then we see a new one every 6 months till the end of time.
One of the things I really like about the indie games on xbla is that they tend to be new in terms of gameplay. In order to actually make it to XBLA, they also have to be great games. I'd imagine that you'd need a game that's a lot more fun in order to get it on the service if your two guys in a garage then if it were Sega. Something tells me if Sega (or any big publisher) pushed hard enough, they could get anything on it.
Indie! It's so awesome because you don't have to go through tons of junk like you do on the pc. I mean there are the Indie game sites on the net, but they still cater to all indie games even really bad ones.
The problem with the sites on the net are that I'm always afraid that they will install tonnes of spyware
