Lumines Live == $23.74
1900 MS Points which I calculated out to be $23.74 US. You have to buy mission packs to progress apparently. http://www.gamingbits.com/content/view/1016/2/

Having to pay for extra

Having to pay for extra music videos, I could see. Having to pay just to progress through the game??? wow.

 

It makes sense from an economic standpoint, both for the publisher and the gamer, but it makes this the most expensive XBLA game ever.

 

From a gamer's standpoint... if I burn out on the game, I don't have to buy the whole thing. I guess that's good?

I think this is almost just a case of semantics. If they said the whole game was $15 and then sold extra level packs seperately, people wouldn't freak out so much.

People would still accuse them of holding stuff back to charge extra for it, but it wouldn't feel like as much of a ripoff as if the game tells you "you're not done yet, insert more money to finish the game."

Maybe they figure this strategy is a good hook to sell more premium content. But I think it's just rude. I'll have to wait and see if it's as bad as they make it sound though.
