re: fighting games

I'm kind of surprised that the two fighting games went up this week.

.

for all of the people that

for all of the people that complain about there being too many retro games coming out, they sure do seem to be pretty popular. 6 of the 10 are actually old games, 2 others are based on old card games, and the 2 others are technically new games that are heavily rooted in 80s old school action gameplay.

personally, i'm getting to the point where i'd rather play an old favorite than a new take on old school gameplay that costs twice as much but has half as much charm...well, except for lumines...that game is just awesomeness in game form.

i'd be interested in a top 10 list of xbla games for online game sessions. if i understand this list correctly, it is just a matter of which games were played by the most people, whether it was played in single player or online multiplayer. i would like a list that gives us the top 10 based on individual online multiplayer game sessions. i want to see which xbla games are the most popular for online multiplayer largely because i see a lot of people complain about the lack of online multiplayer in nintendo's virtual console games, but from my personal experiences, very few of the xbla games have a large online community that plays regularly.

well...

I believe the reason that retro games do well is that retro games is what a large percentage of the "high profile" releases on Xbox Live Arcade are. I personally don't like that, and I feel there should be a higher percentage of original content than there currently is.

I have nothing against people spending their money on old games (I refuse to call the likes of Root Beer Tapper, Time Pilot and Frogger "classics", because age doesn't make a mediocre game better), but I would like more decent alternatives for those of us who aren't interested in that.
