1UP Hands-on: Prince of Persia Classic
Apparently that stupid-head Matt Leone got his grubby mitts on Prince of Persia Classic. Why him? Why not me? Stupid.
Sorry. My jealousy clearly got ahead of me there. Gotta get that in check. But you must understand that I loved the original Prince. I could not even bear playing his more recent games starring his 3D doppleganger. It just didn't feel right to me.
As for the preview, it seems that the revamped version maintains the feel of the original. The movement-based puzzling will still punish you more than most modern games, but in a good way. However, Ubisoft has thrown us a bone by adding some additional check points to balance the difficulty for a more modern audience.
The big addition noted in the preview is ghosts. You will be able to race against a ghost of your fastest time which could add significant replay value to those that love a good race. I know I do.

I haven't played all the modern PoP games, but I thought Sands of Time was a pretty good conversion from 2D to 3D. Kept the same feeling of crazy acrobatics, with the added coolness of the instant replay button.
As for the original... I was a fan way back in time... I hadn't heard of the ghost feature, that could be a lot of fun... especially if you can download the ghosts of top players, and try to beat them, kind of like the replays you can download from the leaders on lumines.
