Wizards of the Coast (owners of the Magic: The gathering brand) and Stainless Games (makers of Novadrome and Crystal Quest, among other XBLA titles) announced that they're working on a Magic: The Gathering game for PC and XBLA.

I have to say, that just this news makes this title one of my most anticipated games for the platform. And if they can release DLC with expansion packs and new decks, I'll be all over it.

I love that game. But I fear that they'll base the xbla one on just the world of magic, kind of like Battlegrounds, instead of the actual card game.

With the success of Legends of Norath (PC) and Eye of Judgement (PS3) picking up so notoriaty, both Sony games, it was inevitable for a a CCG to show up on XBLA.

That isn't a complaint, but I wonder how well it will compete with having to use points to purchase DLC packs and the general lack of player retention with XBLA releases.

I played a bit of Magic many years ago, and even tried one of the PC versions (which I liked), so I'm interested in seeing how this turns out. Hopefully there is a strong single player campaign / vs. cpu mode, because unfortunately the vast majority of XBLA games don't have an enduring online following.

Am I the only one who has never held a single card for this game?

so, if it's a card game, they'll charge extra for booster packs, and if it's an adventure game, it will probably suck. good options (lol).

Seriously, it might be good though.

Does anyone actually play MTG:O on the PC? Jus finally reinstalled it the other day after not having played for a good year or two in case the one on XBL is as good as this one, and again I'm finding myself playing it quite a bit. Would be nice to casually play with some other people that get down to it and don't make decks to just win by the 4th turn, so if anyone plays, lemme know!

The only card games i've ever gotten really into were pokemon and yu-gi-oh.

And That was around 5-7 years ago.

EDIT* I just realized how long it's been... time flies fast.
